Poetry

I composed the following poem on October 17, 2018—the 19th birthday of my granddaughter Emily Pinkston:

Sweet Emily

Emily Pinkston—a sober child,
Precious spirit, disposition mild,
In her heart there is no guile,
Always shuns the sinful wild.

Emily Pinkston—a noble soul,
From worlds of glory now untold,
Sterling traits so gracefully unfold,
Celestial Kingdom a focused goal.

Emily Pinkston—she is the best
And those who know her often confess
That Emily meets her life with zest,
And triumphs over adversarial tests.

Emily Pinkston—so glad you were born
Our family group to perfectly adorn
Your absence from us we do mourn
We miss that special smile you’ve worn.
